Congratulations to those who won the Great Valley School Board Election! As I have said before, I do not agree with (all) of the decisions the current board have made, but they have provided the GV community with a well thought out plan in addressing the financial difficulties that have been laid in the laps of all public schools across this state by the bad decisions made at the state level of government.

Everyone needs to be writing, emailing, and calling our state legislators to tell them that the 2013-2014 state budget MUST include a 270 million RESTORATION of education funding for school districts and student services. Nearly 900 million was cut in 2011 and the state legislators need to get serious and take this first step. We need a (3) year commitment to restore that 900 million! They need to provide the citizens of PA with a very specific plan that demonstrates adequate funding for our public schools.

The poll certainly reflects everything I hear from the people that live in my community all across the political spectrum. Everyone is fed up with Congress, especially the House.

Vote FOR School Board Director incumbents, Pat Gillespie, David Barratt, and Andy Daga. Write-in candidate Delphine Carroll in region 3.

Great Valley Students and the taxpayers work too hard to have our school board over run with Tea Party candidates, McSweeney, Carrow, and Lynddane with their unrealistic ideology, and their failure to have presented any plan to the voters.

The following candidates for GV School Board, McSweeny, Carrow, and Lynddane, have failed to produce any kind of an informative plan to the voters as to how they will ensure that the students academics and programs will weather the coming height of the "PEASER'S crises.

Instead, these individuals, McSweeney, Carrow , Lynddane and their supporters have offered nothing but criticism of the current board/ incumbents. These folks have misrepresented facts, and even publicly accused the incumbents children of obtaining special favors on public forums and comment sections.

These challengers, McSweeney, Carrow, and Lynddane, have proven in their mailings and campaign sites that they do not understand the necessity and purpose of the district having a healthy Reserve Fund. All they talk about is spending down that Reserve by falsely labeling it as a "surplus"and promote the false idea that that money is not spoken for in ensuring the survival of the GVSD.

Given the focus of the McSweeney, Carrow, and Lynddane campaigns on spending the Reserves, at a faster rate than presented by the incumbents it is clear that they will destroy the GV Schools and the districts standing in the state and nation. Academics will be cut, programs will be cut, and class numbers will escalate.

@Thought, You, Steve, BefortheKids, and the Rat all support the challengers in this school board election, but outside of posting their nice resumes, speaking in platitudes, providing zero specifics of how they would go about doing anything different, than the current board, and complaining, none of them have provided any kind of a plan.

Clearly you four believe that you can gain some votes by bringing up this issue starting with BefortheKids commenting on the old Dec. 15th article and moving that campaign of trying to sully the reputations of Great Valley community members with your incomplete "facts" and hyperbolic fear mongering.

    Facts:
    - Mr. Barrett was only the president of the board for 17 days. This issue began during Mr. Chambers tenure and even though he is not currently running for a seat on the board, it is disingenuous to try and make people believe that Mr. Barrett was the president during the time that the board dealt with this issue.

    - Mr. Daga and Mr. Barrett both have children attending schools in the GVSD. It is absurd to insinuate that anyone on the board and particularly anyone with children attending the district did not take appropriate action to protect the children.

If you really believe that the two incumbents should not be re-elected, why haven't you been calling for their's and other board members dismissal? What about Forett? Was Lisenring serving on the board at the same time?

@Steve, the candidates have offered zero solutions or spelled out any plans. We are all impressed with their lovely resumes, but they have failed to offer anything substantial for the voters. A resume and criticizing others does not equal trustworthy my book. Where is their plan?

@Ratman, I retract saying Mr.Chambers was president of the board at the time as it was pointed out to me that I was mistaken. However, I will stand by my statement that the board had to act within the law and adding to that their actions protected the children and the taxpayer at the same time.

@Steve, you are correct. My bad, it was Mr. Barrett that was sitting president of the board when all of this unfolded. However, that fact does not erase the fact that Mr. Barrett and Mr. Daga both have children attending GVSD and that it is completely ridiculous to insinuate that they were not taking appropriate actions to make sure that the children of the district were protected.

The entire boards job was to protect the children and at the same time protect the taxpayers. Under investigation is not a guilty sentence and if this guy was found to be innocent of accusations, the district would have had a massive law suit on their hands.

All board members, which did include Mr. Chambers, had to approach this situation in a non emotional and level headed manner regardless to what they would have preferred to do. The fact is they all acted professionally in this particular matter as safeguards were put into place to protect the students while at the same time protecting the taxpayers from having to fund a possible law suit.

Oh and by the way... Mr. Daga and Mr. Barrett both have children attending school in GVSD, do you really expect anyone to believe that they were not doing all they possibly could to protect all the children? Talk about ridiculous!

@Ratman.... Mr. Bruce Chambers was the president of the GV School Board. They had to act within the law.

You say, "if he was exonerated they could have reinstated with fanfare." But, judging from previous posts, you, BefortheKids, and Steve would have then been yelling about your taxes going up to pay for the lawyer and the financial damages in the law suit that would have surely followed.

Seriously, your not doing your Tea Party candidates any favors.
