TE's Newest Pizza Place Opens For Business

The pizza shop has opened for business where a doughnut shop once operated. That's where the similarities end.

After several months of renovations and a switch from doughnuts, TE's newest pizza take-out and delivery place is open for business. Spatola's Pizza officially opened its doors last Thursday and they're serving up and delivering pizzas, gourmet pizzas, calzones, strombolis and sanwiches from the shop in the former Dunkin' Donuts location at 20 West Lancaster Avenue in Paoli. Owner Massimo Spatola says this is the latest in a small local chain of Spatola family restaurants. The new shop's menu cover sums it up: "from Palermo, Sicily to Philadelphia and finally making their home in Chalfont, PA the Spatola Family has been serving Bucks and Montgomery County for over 30 years." The new shop (next to Radio Shack and under the Arthur Murray …

I'm looking forward to trying the new pizza place. I remember when that building had Baskin Robbins in it before the ice cream shop moved down the street and Dunkin' Donuts moved in. Does anyone remember what was there before Baskin Robbins?   more ›

Doughnuts You Can Bank On

Paoli's Dunkin Donuts moves to a former bank building, adds a drive through.

Last week TE Patch readers voted Dunkin Donuts their favorite coffee shop. Now getting that morning cup of java is even easier in Paoli. The doughnut franchise recently moved a few blocks east and across the street from its long time location in the Paoli West Shopping Center to its new home in the former Sovereign Bank branch location next to Remax and across the street from Van Cleve Collection boutique. It won't be too long before another favorite dough-based specialty shop moves into the former Dunkin location. Signs in the windows say regional pizza chain Spatola's Pizza is coming soon to the store, which is next to Radio Shack and under the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in the Paoli West Shopping Center.

Mascot on Duty

Olivia is the official mascot of a Paoli boutique.

Olivia is a ten-year-old yorkie who serves as the 'official mascot' at Polka Dots (located by the Acme) in Paoli. Susan Randels is Olivia's and Polka Dot's owner. She tells Patch that the pint-size pooch rules the roost. Randels says Olivia created a custom bed for herself one day by pulling scarves from a storage area and lying down in her self-made lap of luxury.

3 Week Search for Missing Pets Ends in Paoli

A beagle and a jug, beloved and inseparable family pets, ran off on the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Tessie the beagle and Tater, a Jack Russell/pug mix were always inseparable, according to their owner.  They were also beloved members of the Paoli family who launched a massive search effort after the canine soul mates ran away from their yard on Summit Avenue on the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. Patch first brought you the story of the search for Tessie and Tater after missing posters were put up at the Paoli Train Station and the word was spread through local vets and shelters. Neither dog was wearing a collar when they ran off but Tessie did have an ID microchip implanted under her skin. Over this past weekend there was a hopeful break in the case as the pair of pooches was spotted together along the tracks of the Main Line in the …
