Virginia man is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old Upper Main Line girl and taking her to DC.
Ashley Ryan Hareford, 20, of Grottoes, Virginia, is scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning for a preliminary hearing on multiple felony charges including Involuntary Deviant Sexual Intercourse, Statutory Sexual Assault, Indecent Assault, Criminal Use of a Communication Facility, Aggravated Indecent Assault, Indecent Exposure and Corrupting the Morals of a Minor. Hareford was captured in Washington, DC on a Megabus from Philadelphia in December. He was found along with his alleged 13-year-old victim from Radnor after police got a tip the two were on the bus. “She trusted him,” Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan said Monday about a 13-year-old Radnor girl who met up with a 20-year-old man she met online. On Monday, Dec. 10 Ashley Hareford, of Virginia, was extradited to Pennsylvania to face felony charges that could mean nearly a century in prison. Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan calls the case "every parent's worst nightmare." Ashley Ryan Hareford, 20, of Grottoes, Virginia, will be charged with multiple felonies including Involuntary Deviant Sexual Intercourse, Statutory Sexual Assault, Indecent Assault, Criminal Use of a Communication Facility, Aggravated Indecent Assault, Indecent Exposure and Corrupting the Morals of a Minor, District Attorney Jack Whelan announced Monday. A 13-year-old girl, who had been missing since around 4 p.m. Monday afternoon, has been found by U.S. Marshals in Washington, D.C.. The young Radnor teen was found with 20-year-old Ashley Ryan Hareford, who Radnor Police said met MacMullett online and traveled to Pennsylvania from Virginia. Hareford was taken into custody by authorities in D.C. as the two stepped off a bus from Philadelphia. The girl's father talked to reporters Tuesday night after police briefed the media on new and emerging details on the case. The Radnor Police Department has issued a missing person alert for a 13-year-old-girl who is missing from her Upper Main Line home. The teenager was last seen at 4 p.m. Monday in the Garrett Hill Section of Radnor Township. According to police she was wearing blue jeans, a black North Face jacket and black sneakers which had pink highlights stating "Osiris". Police say she may be in the company of a Ashley Ryan Hareford, a 20-year-old male. Ashley Hareford is currently wanted on the charge of Corruption of Minors. An arrest warrant for him is active and pending in Radnor Township.
