New Reports Raise Questions in "Lettergate"

A published report indicates that not as many Tredyffrin Supervisors as one may have thought actually a saw a controversial letter before it was posted on line.

A report published Thursday on Main Line Media News indicates that few of Tredyffrin Township's seven elected members of the Board of Supervisors may have actually seen, let alone signed off on, a controversial letter posted in September on the Township's official website. The letter on township letterhead (which inlcudes the names of all seven Board of Supervisors members) and posted on the township's website was written by Board of Supervisors Vice-Chairman John "J.D." DiBuonaventuro. A copy of the letter is attached to this article as a pdf file. In the letter DiBuonaventuro took pointed political shots at Pattye Benson, a private citizen and blogger. Benson's role as "Community Matters" blogger (whose blogs often also appear on TE …

Supervisors Blasted Over Letter on Website

Tredyffrin Township Supervisors, manager come under public fire as a blogger and a former T/E School Board member demand apologies.

In her last official moments as Tredyffrin Township Manager Mimi Gleason and members of the Tredyffrin Board of Supervisors came under fire in two pointed, blunt and direct no-holds-barred public statements Monday night. The statements were made by Community Matters Blogger Pattye Benson and former three-term Tredyffrin Easttown School Board member Andrea Felkins. He is a Republican. In his …

"Lettergate" Zoning Board Member Forced Out

Her criminal case ended but then a First Amendment firestorm erupted in Tredyffrin Township.

The case of a Tredyffrin Zoning Board member accused of public drunkeness and disorderly conduct ended in a not guilty ruling over the summer. The case and the verdict touched off a firestorm of controversy and led to a police investigation and an internet showdown over the First Amendment right to free speech. The not guilty verdict was declared after two Tredyffrin Police officers failed to appear in court. A police investigation found human error, a clerical mistake, was the reason the officers did not appear as scheduled in court. That was the official finding of the internal police investigation. The case raised some questions in the news media about whether or not the woman benefited from outside influence because she at one time …

Is it me or didn't these people buy in neighborhoods next to Commercial Zoning Areas? When you do that, you take a risk. The ALF may not be best, but it may also not be worst -- who knows what commercial venue could come along that totally meets the current zoning for that parcel? NIMBYs who oppose change may end up with something worse - but they CHOSE to live next to commercial properties.   more ›
