Supervisors Blasted Over Letter on Website

Tredyffrin Township Supervisors, manager come under public fire as a blogger and a former T/E School Board member demand apologies.

In her last official moments as Tredyffrin Township Manager Mimi Gleason and members of the Tredyffrin Board of Supervisors came under fire in two pointed, blunt and direct no-holds-barred public statements Monday night. The statements were made by Community Matters Blogger Pattye Benson and former three-term Tredyffrin Easttown School Board member Andrea Felkins. Felkins is a Republican who has lived in TE for three decade. Benson ran unsuccessfully for a seat on the Board of Supervisors as a Democrat in 2009.  That is relevant to the story because the letter at the heart of the First Ammendment controversy was posted on the township's taxpayer funded website by Board Vice Chairman John "JD" DiBuonaventuro. He is a Republican. In his …

Residents Gear Up for Two Showdowns Tonight

Outraged Tredyffrin residents plan to bring it on Monday night. Why this matters to YOU.

Discussion of zoning issues and First Amendment rights aren't normally the stuff of big headlines in Tredyffrin Township. Today those issues, and how they impact the lives of every resident are front and center and the residents at the center of the two separate, but now intertwined issues say it's worth your attention. They're right. If you live in Tredyffrin Township what happens at tonight's Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors meeting could impact you either directly or indirectly. The Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors meets Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Tredyffrin Township Municipal Building. The agenda, as posted on the township's website is available by clicking here. Issue One: Commercial C-1 Zoning in Tredyffrin …

Is it me or didn't these people buy in neighborhoods next to Commercial Zoning Areas? When you do that, you take a risk. The ALF may not be best, but it may also not be worst -- who knows what commercial venue could come along that totally meets the current zoning for that parcel? NIMBYs who oppose change may end up with something worse - but they CHOSE to live next to commercial properties.   more ›

Tredyffrin Headed for Major Battles Monday?

The battle lines are drawn as members of the public and the Tredyffrin Board of Supervisors appear headed for two big showdowns on Monday.

You might want to arrive early if you want to find a good place to park for Monday night's Tredyffrin Board of Supervisors. The board is taking a final vote on a commercial zoning change. It's hot issue for the Daylesford Neighborhood Association and others throughout the township opposed to not only an assisted living facility that they feel is too big for its proposed location, but also to the proposed zoming change that would affect commercial development all over Tredyffrin Township. But it's the First Amendment right to free speech that could provide the biggest fireworks Monday night at Tredyffrin Township Building. A letter posted last week on township letterhead on the publicly-funded township website has many township residents up…

Kirsten: "sorry Pattye, but you kinda asked for that tongue lashing." After all Pattye, you 1.educated readers about the facts behind a story in the MLMN, Patch and the Inquirer. 2. Clarified speculation that JDB might be the unnamed driver 3. Didn't censure the comments (was there profanity?) 4. Wasted your time talking to the DA, the Judge, the Chief, the BOS Chair 5. Who Had Final Say on Tredyffrin Wesbite Post?

A politically charged letter posted on the Tredyffrin Township website against a private citizen/blogger and the media raises serious questions.

A "Letter to Tredyffrin Citizens from Vice Chair DiBuonaventuro" posted on the Tredyffrin Township official website leads to an obvious question: who has final say on what is posted on the Township's official, taxpayer-funded, site. The answer comes in an email to TE Patch from outgoing Tredyffrin Township Manager Mimi Gleason: The Manager has final say on what is posted to the website. In the past, there have been statements from the Board of Supervisors on the website, such as the recent announcement of the selection of the police chief. (Editor's note: the referenced announcement is attached to this article as a pdf)  There will be a similar statement when they select the next manager. It is unusual to post a statement from an …
