Services Set for Former 'Stoga PTA President

Funeral services are planned Tuesday morning for a former Conestoga PTA President and Waynesborough CC competitive bridge player.

Joan M. Scott, daughter of the late, Robert and Agnes Macdonald, loving wife of Howard Winfield Scott Jr. Passed away after a brief battle with cancer on June 20th.  Joan is survived by her loving husband Howard Jr., her children, Howard W. Scott III (Bucky), Thomas and Ann Tasber and her seven grandchildren. Joan was born in Houghton, MI, and was raised in Sheboygan, WI.  She attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, majoring in Journalism.  Her tremendous love and talent for music earned her the 1st Chair Violinist at the University where she graduated with honors. She met her husband of nearly 51 years on a blind date.  And they moved to Chicago. Followed by Overland Park, KS, West Chester, PA, Birmingham Mi, Paoli, Pa, Park City, …

Paoli Funeral Home Co-Founder Dies at 89

She and her husband founded the funeral home that still bears the family name.

Their funeral home has been a Paoli business landmark since its founding in 1953. Lena Madonna Alleva, who co-founded the Alleva funeral home in Paoli with her late husband Vincent, has died at age 89. Mrs. Alleva was an active participant in the family business until her retirement in 2003. Alleva died on June 15 and was remembered during funeral services Wednesday at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Paoli, where she had been a member for the past 54 years.
