Over the past week, Nolan Painting of Havertown, a residential painting business, donated the labor to re-paint a refurbished covered bridge in the Valley Forge National Historic Park in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County. The bridge was closed on August 17 and re-opened late Saturday afternoon with new boards on the sides of the bridge and fresh coats of primer and paint all around. As of Friday afternoon painters at the bridge work site told TE Patch they expected to use around 20 gallons of paint plus about the same number of gallons of primer on the bridge. Knox covered bridge was built in 1865 to cross the Valley Creek in the Tredyffrin Township section of what's now Valley Forge National Historical Park. The last major refurbishing …

The owner addresses the rumors that are swirling about the 6.5 acre property.
Waterloo Gardens owner Bobby LeBoutillier says the three biggest rumors circulating about who is buying the now-closed Waterloo Gardens site in Devon are: Terrain, A Ford dealership, or a nursing home. "I hope I find their checks," LeBoutillier said in an interview TE Patch. So far he says there are no offers on the table for the aproximately six-and-a-half acre site which his grandparents opened in Devon 70 years ago in 1942. According to a report on business-bankruptcies.com, Waterloo Gardens filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection in June. The landmark Waterloo Gardens property is prime real Main Line commercial real estate on Lancaster Ave, one block west of the Devon Horse Show grounds. In this economy it reamins to be seen if even…

The sign is new, see what's different inside.
Casey's Ale House has re-opened in Berwyn with a new sign out front, a few changes inside, but one thing had not changed as of Sunday night. A wall has been taken down, opening up some visual space between the row of booths along the back wall and the bar inside the restaurant. As of Sunday night the re-named Casey's Pour House still featured the same Casey's Ale House menu. On the Casey's Berwyn Facebook page, Laurie Laux Sears wrote: "I hope the rennovations dont ruin this icon of my youth". Tell us what you think of the new sign and changes inside Casey's in the comments section below.

It's a birthday day the owner didn't want to see happen and an even tougher one for workers and customers.
Bobby LeBoutillier is marking his birthday in a way no one would ever choose. The CEO of Waterloo Gadens is closing the store his grandparents opened 70 years ago in Devon. "We're very sorry we're not going to be there (any longer)," LeBoutillier told TE Patch during a phone interview late Friday. "The community supported us a long, long time." In the end, he explains the economic downturn, which he says started in 2008 for the economy and especially the home building industry, simply caught up with Waterloo Gardens. The result is Waterloo is consolidating its operations to one much larger store in Exton, twelve miles West of the Devon Store. The decision to close the landmark Devon store on Lancaster Avenue was a difficult and personal …

"I trained months for this," quipped one 13-year-old bargain hunter at Palto's Closet in Paoli.
Plato's Closet in the Paoli Village Shoppes, was swarming with tweens and teens looking for great deals on girls' fashions the moment the doors opened Saturday morning. The girls and young women's designer fashion resale shop held a grab bag sale and it's an all-you-can-stuff-into-a-small-plastic-red-bag-for-ten-bucks shopping extravaganza. By the time the doors opened Saturday morning, tweens, teens, moms and even a dad or two were standing by, ready to pounce on the bargains. "We trained months for this," joked 13-year-old Jennie who travelled about half an hour with a friend, and her 16-year-old sister to take on the challenge and scoop up the bargains. "You've got to roll up the clothes to fit as many as you can in the little bag …
