Crews are expected to shut down half of the road to finish a two day project.
A paving crew is expected to back on the job Thursday, closing down to eastbound lanes of Lancaster Ave./Rt. 30 in Berwyn. The same crew was in the same location in front of Conestoga Collision Wednesday patching up a utility dig location. The crew on the site told Patch they will be back on Thursday, between rush hours to patch the eastbound lanes. Traffic is expected to be shifted to one lane in each direction between the morning and evening rush hours.

Aqua Pennsylvania will begin installing a new water main on Berwyn Paoli Road on Wednesday morning (Jan 2). This stretch of road is just west of Lancaster Ave, (a few hundred feet south of the Goodwill Store and Play it Again Sports) and it is literally on the borderline between Tredyffrin and Easttown Townships. The shutdown of the road will come just as many people are returning to the daily commute following holiday vacations. According to a letter sent to customers in the region, the stretch of road is on Berwyn Paoli Rd. from a point 180 feet east of Country Rd. to a point 270 feet west of Country Rd. The work hours for the project will be 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. The roadway will be closed in the area of construction. …

Several major road construction projects are underway or about to get underway and one of the biggest starts Tuesday.
Summer is road construction season and a big project is about to get underway in the region. That's just one of several ongoing projects that PennDOT has on the schedule for August. The following regional information is provided by the office of State Representative Duane Milne (R-167). Route 29 Beginning Tuesday, July 31, preliminary work will start on the $4.2 million project to improve travel on Route 29 in Charlestown and East Whiteland townships, Chester County. All of the construction is expected to be completed by June 2014. To prepare for the new slip ramp to the PA Turnpike, PennDOT will widen Route 29 to provide an additional northbound and southbound through lane between Yellow Springs Road and Phoenixville Pike/Charlestown …

PennDOT opens one bridge only to immediately close another on Newtown Road in Easttown.
It's a good news/bad news scenario for drivers who have been coping with a closed bridge on Newtown Road since early spring. The bridge at S. Leopard Road is finally rebuilt and re-opened. It won't make much difference for drivers who want a straight shot on Newtown Road between Sugartown Road in Berwyn and 252 in Newtown (by Episcopal Academy). As soon as PennDOT re-opened the bridge at Leopard Road last week, crews closed a bridge (that you might not have even realized is a bridge) between Beaumont and WaterlooRoad, about a mile away from the newly re-opened bridge. The bottom line: drivers still have to take a substantial detour around Newtown where Newtown Road runs parrallels Hilltop House's "backyard" park. The work on the bridge, …

Aqua Pennsylvania-contracted water main crews are working on Upper Gulph Road this week at the intersection of Old Eagle School Road in Tredyffrin Township. There have been signs posted warning of road closures but until Monday there had not actually been closures that prevented traffic from flowing through the interesection. A flagger at the corner Monday morning was keeping traffic from going westbound between Old Eagle School and Valley Roads. That is the block that the Sunoco gas station and Woodlynde School sit on. The construction is supposed to run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day, and be cleared in time to open the road for afternoon rush hour. The flagger at the corner Monday morning told Patch that stretch of road was supposed to be …

Water crews dig a trench, slow traffic on West Valley Road.
Water line crews weren't just working in the trenches Friday afternoon, they were digging a trench on Cloket Lane that forced the closure of the southbound lane of West Valley Road in Tredyffrin Township. Flaggers were directing traffic and there were only minor delays in both directions of W Valley Road. The construction delay was scheduled to be gone by the afternoon rush hour.

A TE Patch reader emailed the editor asking what's going on at the corner or Old Eagle School and Upper Gulph Road in Tredyffrin Township. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is installing new ramps on the corners to bring the intersection up to standards under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The PennDOT District 6 website indicates that the work is scheduled to continue until next Friday, May 4. The works is supposed to be done between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to minimize delays during rush hour.
