Alleged Paoli Home Invaders Face Judge

Three men are charged with a home invasion robbery. It is one of two home invasion cases in Tredyffrin Township in recent weeks.

Three men have been ordered to stand trial on charges stemming from a middle-of-the-night home invasion at a Paoli townhouse on Jan. 13. Chesterbrook District Court Magistrate Analisa Sondergaard ordered the case against Dante Bruce Alston, 32, of Paoli, Craig Alexander Brown, 34, of Paoli and Kenneth Owen Durrell, 34, of Philadelphia bound over for trial in Chester County Common Pleas court. The three defendants are accused of breaking into a townhouse occupied by two men in the middle of the night. According to affidavits of probable cause filed in the case, three men broke in through a rear window of the ground floor townhouse after the two men inside refused to open the front door.   Tredyffrin Police say the break-in happened around 3…

Tredyffrin Home Invasion Kidnapping

Jewelry Home Invaders Victim Relives Horror

A man police believe may have been robbed by the same home invaders that attacked a Berwyn couple tells his story.

Tredyffrin Police believe the home invaders who bound and robbed a couple in their Berwyn home have been involved in several other similar home invasion robberies. In an exclusive interview with NBC10 News, the victim of one of those other robberies says the attack on the owner of Shuler's Jewelers says hearing reports of last Thursday's attack in Berwyn brought back the terror. "For something like this to happen, it's terrifying," the unidentified man told NBC10. Just as in the Berwyn home invasion, the 61-year-old employee of Bixler's Jeweler in Allentown was surprised in his home. As in the Berwyn case, the man and his wife were bound with duct tape at gunpoint. The man was then forced to take the robbers to his store while his wife …

Jeweler Home Invasion Robbery Probe Gets Big Break

A tip from the public leads police to a critical piece of evidence that had been missing.

Acting on a tip from someone who saw the story in the news, police have recovered the victim's car used in last Thursday's armed home invasion, robbery and kidnapping of a Berwyn man and his wife. The four gunmen in the case are still on the loose. Tredyffrin Police Detective Sgt. Todd Bereda says the Jewelery store owner's 2012 Volkswagen Jetta was found on a street in East Norriton Tuesday night. According to Bareda the car was found after a viewer saw the story on a late local TV newscast Tuesday and called police. Bereda says the discovery of the four-door sedan is a "critical moment in the investigation."  Detectives spent Wednesday morning going through the car looking for clues. Police hope evidence in the car will lead them to the …

Tredyffrin Home Invasion Kidnapping

Two TT Home Invasions In One Month

Home ivasions are extremely rare, but there are things you can do to keep from becoming a victim of far more common crimes.

There have now been two home invasion cases in Tredyffrin Township in the past month. Suspects are now in prison in the first, but the home invaders in the second case are still on the loose. Should the average local resident be worried for their own safety? Home invasion robberies are extremely unusual in Tredyffrin and Easttown. Tredyffrin Police say the two cases that have happened in the past few weeks, a home invasion in the middle of the night in Paoli and Thursday's home invasion robbery in Berwyn were targeted at specific victims.  While that comes as no comfort to the victims in the cases, it also does not indicate that there is any kind of emerging crime trend in TE. In the first case, police believe the home invasion was drug-…

Here's an idea.... get a gun, a LTCF and carry it everyday. Town watch, more police, etc are good supplemental ideas, but NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING is better than an armed person, ready to protect themselves.   more ›
