Controversial C-1 Zoning Law Change Approved

The Tredyffrin Board of Supervisors clears the way for new senior assisted living development on small site on Lancaster Ave.

After more than a year of discussion in the community, and months of hearings at the Tredyffrin Planning Commission and finally the Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors, a controversial change in the township's zoning law has won approval. The change in the C-1 Zoning Ordinance will allow developers of a proposed 93 bed assisted living facility to begin the process of developing the former Jimmy Duffy Catering site on Lancaster Ave., across from the Daylesford Train Station. The Capital Health development led by Ed Morris of Tredyffrin must still meet all the requirements for the site, including parking, building size and storm water management. The vote Monday night clears the way for Morris, who also developed the Symphony Square …

Bob: A sincere thanks to you and The Patch for your continuous coverage of this story. I'm certain your coverage has contributed greatly to Tredyffrin residents filling the seats last night! Clearly, the Daylesford Neighborhood Association (DNA) is incredibly disappointed with last night's vote. Residents Gear Up for Two Showdowns Tonight

Outraged Tredyffrin residents plan to bring it on Monday night. Why this matters to YOU.

Discussion of zoning issues and First Amendment rights aren't normally the stuff of big headlines in Tredyffrin Township. Today those issues, and how they impact the lives of every resident are front and center and the residents at the center of the two separate, but now intertwined issues say it's worth your attention. They're right. If you live in Tredyffrin Township what happens at tonight's Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors meeting could impact you either directly or indirectly. The Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors meets Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Tredyffrin Township Municipal Building. The agenda, as posted on the township's website is available by clicking here. Issue One: Commercial C-1 Zoning in Tredyffrin …

Is it me or didn't these people buy in neighborhoods next to Commercial Zoning Areas? When you do that, you take a risk. The ALF may not be best, but it may also not be worst -- who knows what commercial venue could come along that totally meets the current zoning for that parcel? NIMBYs who oppose change may end up with something worse - but they CHOSE to live next to commercial properties.   more ›

Daylesford Assisted Living Hearing Delayed

Neighbors prevail in putting off vote on a controversial assisted living facility plan until after summer.

The President of the Daylesford Neighborhood Association asked for, and got, a postponement for a Tredyffrin Board of Supervisors hearing on a proposal to put build an assisted living facility on a one acre site across from the Daylesford Train Station. Trisha Larkin is President of the Association whose members are largely opposed to a proposal to put a 93 bed facility on the once acre property that used to be home to Jimmy Duffy's catering. The proposal will come up for a discussion Thursday at a Planning Commission Hearing at the Tredyffrin Municipal Building. The Tredyffrin Board of Supervisors was originally going to vote on holding a public hearing on the proposal in August. Larkin asked the board to consider putting the vote off …

The Daylesford Neighborhood Association (DNA) is grateful to the Board of Supervisors for delaying the Public Hearing until the Sept. 17th meeting. This allows the Planning Commission more time to do a comprehensive analysis on all aspects of this proposed zoning change. Also, many DNA members and Tredyffrin residents have their family vacations planned in August. Delaying the meeting until …   more ›
