Starbucks Springs a Big Surprise in Devon

Maybe it's all the coffee they drink, but workers moved (really) fast to pull off the unexpected at the brand new Starbucks Drive thru location.

Chalk it up to all that high octane coffee maybe.  Starbucks' newest store in Devon opened Sunday morning, twelve days ahead of the company's own internal schedule. "We got the store ready in two days," Starbucks Devon Manager Bryn Karr tells TE Patch. "We got the keys on Friday and we opened for business on Sunday." By Monday late afternoon, the "now open" signs and those tall wind-blown vertical flags were alerting drivers on Lancaster Ave that the new Starbucks, complete with Drive Thru window was open. Baristas were imported from other company-owned stores in the region to help the baristas who've been hired to serve up all the coffee, tea and other drink concoctions that make Starbucks Starbucks. The store is just west of Whole Foods …

I just returned back from Seattle, birthplace of Starbucks, and as a mom of young ones, you can bet I'll be trying out the drive-thru! I'm impressed that it is a LEED building, as well.   more ›

Doughnuts You Can Bank On

Paoli's Dunkin Donuts moves to a former bank building, adds a drive through.

Last week TE Patch readers voted Dunkin Donuts their favorite coffee shop. Now getting that morning cup of java is even easier in Paoli. The doughnut franchise recently moved a few blocks east and across the street from its long time location in the Paoli West Shopping Center to its new home in the former Sovereign Bank branch location next to Remax and across the street from Van Cleve Collection boutique. It won't be too long before another favorite dough-based specialty shop moves into the former Dunkin location. Signs in the windows say regional pizza chain Spatola's Pizza is coming soon to the store, which is next to Radio Shack and under the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in the Paoli West Shopping Center.

Patch Poll Results: Best Coffee Shop in TE

We asked TE Patch readers to pick their favorite coffee place in Tredyffrin and Easttown. Now the results are in.

We asked TE Patch readers to pick their favorite coffee place in Tredyffrin and Easttown. Now the results are in. The hands-down favorite in our unscientific poll is Dunkin Donuts in Paoli.  It may be the new, bigger location, the drive-thru window or just the coffee and coffee concoctions, but Dunkin Donuts won with 50 percent of the vote. Whirled Peace, just a few hundred feet east on Lancaster Ave., came in second with 26 percent of the vote. Click here to see the full results of the poll. Check back Saturday to see what Patch readers all over the region voted as their favorite coffee shops from The Upper Main Line to Northwest Philadelphia.
