Editor's note: The following information comes from the Chester County Communications Office. A few small errors were corrected from the original version. The Chester County Commissioners unanimously approved the 2013 budget today. The budget calls for $424,086,751 in operating expenses and $95,885,073 for its capital budget. “The County has not raised taxes since 2009 and we’ve worked hard to keep taxes as low as possible this year for taxpayers,” said Commissioners’ Chair Terence Farrell. “We faced the challenges of decreasing revenues and increased funding needed for emergency services, to finalize a budget that delivers the necessary services to our residents at a fair cost.” The budget calls for a five percent increase in county real …

TT BOS Takes Up Budget, 5.5% Tax Hike Tonight

Cops expected to show up in big numbers as Tredyffrin Township supervisors start deliberating a budget for 2013 that could include a proposed 5.5% tax increase.

Tredyffrin Township's Board of Supervisors are scheduled to begin hearing from the public on a proposed 2013 township budget Monday night. The recommended budget draft from the township's staff would include a 5.5% tax increase. The largest part of the township's annual budget is the police department. The department currently has fewer than 40 uniformed police officers and command staff but has 47 positions for uniformed officers. About one quarter of the rank and file officers attended the last Board of Supervisors meeting in November when the Board of Supervisors voted on a preliminary budget in order to legally advertise Monday's budget discussion. Because it was merely a procedural vote, no members of the public got up to comment. …

Impact of Corbett Budget on T/E: Minimal

Despite the political firestorm raging around the Governor's proposed budget, T/E School District administrators predicts funding to remain "reatively flat."

As politicians in Harrisburg wrangle over Governor Corbett's proposed $27.1B state budget, school board members in the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District must wrestle with reaching a balanced budget by June. While the Governor's proposals won't help T/E much, they won't hurt much either, according _to an assessment issued by the  T/E School Board Finance Committee. _ The committee issued a press release following its budget meeting last week saying "during the meeting, the administration presented information on the Governor’s proposed 2012-2013 budget and the impact on the T/E School District. Gerlach:President's Budget is 'Groundhog Day'

Congressman Jim Gerlach issues a blunt response to the President's budget proposal.

Congressman Jim Gerlach (R-PA6) issued the following statement on Monday after President Obama unveiled a $3.8 trillion budget proposal for the 2013 Fiscal Year, which begins on October 1st. The President’s plan forecasts another $1.33 trillion deficit and calls for raising taxes by $1.9 trillion to fuel government spending: "The President should have released this budget on Groundhog Day because it is a repeat of his previous three budget proposals: higher taxes, more debt and no real solutions for eliminating wasteful Washington spending. It is extremely disappointing that the President seems eager to accelerate America's descent down the same path as Greece and other European nations that have refused to confront their unsustainable …
