30 Main Gets Ready To Open in Berwyn

The inclement weather couldn't stop Berwyn’s newest restaurant from getting its new sign Wednesday afternoon.

Crews were putting up the sign for 30 Main in Berwyn Wednesday afternoon. The new restaurant is going into the site of the former Black Sheep Saloon and Main Line Cafe on Lancaster Avenue. (It’s next to the Berwyn post office and across from the train station.) The new restaurant is a venture by Matt DiDomenico and his son Michael, according to Philly.com. Share: What do you think of the new sign? Are you excited about a new restaurant?

Please, call Phil! I've seen him at other venues and he would definitely be an asset to 30 Main. Love the sign, BTW.   more ›

Girl Scout Robbery Confession Made, Police Say

The 31-year-old former Berwyn resident is charged in other recent incidents, too.

Tredyffrin Township police on Wednesday announced an arrest, and a confession, in the Jan. 20 robbery from a Girl Scout cookie sale at the Berwyn Pathmark. Jevon Michael Avis, 31, of Carlisle, and formerly of the 300 block of Beechwood Avenue in Berwyn, was arrested Tuesday evening. He admitted stealing from the scouts in an interview with a police detective, police say. Avis is charged with robbery and related crimes in that case, as well as facing charges in a purse-snatching that happened Monday at Pathmark. His arraignment and preliminary hearing in Devon District Court are pending. On Jan. 20, according to police, a man they now identify as Avis stole from a Pathmark plastic donation container intended to benefit U.S. troops, then …

What Happened to Banner Over Lancaster Ave?

The banner announcing the Berwyn Christmas Tree Lighting mysteriously disappeared within hours of being hung Friday.

Eagle-eyed drivers and observant Patch readers may have noticed something missing over Lancaster Avenue over the weekend. A history-making banner that was hung over Lancaster Avenue Friday morning disappered almost as quickly as it appeared. The banner made history because it is the first-ever to clear all the bureaucratic hurdles to get the ok to be hung over Lancaster Avenue in Berwyn. Now you see it, now you don't According to informed sources, there was a glitch with a piece of the rigging hardware used to hang the banner and it came down in an apparent high wind sometime around noon on Friday. There were no injuries and no traffic incidents caused when the banner came down. A banner project insider tells Patch that the hardware …

Easttown Makes History on Lancaster Ave Today

Easttown Township, a merchants association and the T/E School District are teaming up to make a little local history early Friday morning.

Something that's never happened before in Easttown will happen Friday morning-right in the middle of Lancaster Avenue/Route 30. The Berwyn-Devon Business Association is going to hang a banner across the middle of the state highway, in the center of Berwyn. It's no small feat, either. The banner will promote the annual Holiday featival held in the Berwyn Train Station parking lot in early December. Getting the ok for the banner involved PennDOT (Lancaster Ave/Route 30 is a state road), Easttown Township approval, PECO,  cooperation from the owner of a building that the banner will be attached to (it will be string between a utility pole and a building on the south side of Lancaster Ave), and the T/E School District which is donating the use…

At 10 a.m. on Friday, book dealers and community members were lined up outside the Easttown Library and Information Center on First Avenue in Berwyn.
