The main photo on the story may be great, but it’s not the winner. Click on the photos to see the winner.
Congratulations to Victoria Henderson, of Wynnewood, and Carol Sweeney, of Telford. They are the winners of Patch’s Back to School Picture of the Week contest. We had a tie and Sweeney’s amusing photo of a happy mom behind two less than thrilled back to school students ties with Henderson’s picture of the young kids left behind as the bus prepares to leave. Thanks to everyone who submitted your great pictures. We had some great pictures submitted during and after the nomination period. I included a picture submitted after the nomination period in this post so you can enjoy it. The voting was close and just a reminder to everyone that as much as we love seeing the pictures submitted after the deadlines, if you want your photo to be …

When word came from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia that St. Monica School in Berwyn would close in June, parents, students, faculty and staff were crushed. Wednesday marked the first day of school for students in Archdiocese schools, including former St. Monica Students. A dozen students in the Country Gate neighborhood are starting at St. Katharine's School in Wayne this fall. Wednesday morning worries started giving way to smiles as former St. Monica students waited to the bus to take them to their new school. So, how was the first day at the St. Monica's students new school? Katie Krisko sent in this report on the first day of school for, along with the photo. We have 12 children from Country Gate Road who sadly left SMS. We were so …

Post your best back to school pictures and you could win a Patch prize pack in our Picture of the Week contest.
Many students are heading back to school this week, and we want to see them getting on the bus for the first time or in that perfect outfit picked out for the first day. Upload your pictures from this year, or from other years. Still have a back to school picture of you from when you were little, we want to see that too. We’d love to know the first name of the child and the name of the school. We also want to know in the caption your name and what town you’re from and any other information you think we should know. Please only upload pictures of your own children. This is part of Patch’s summer Picture of the Week series, where we’re asking you for your best pictures on a certain topic each week. We’re enjoying seeing what pictures you …

More than six thousand school students will be back on the road, either in cars, on foot or aboard school busses starting Tuesday. For drivers, that means there's an urgent need to pay close attention to crossing guards, stop signs and those flashing yellow school zone lights. Tredyffrin Police Chief Anthony Giaimo asked TE Patch to pass the following, important safety information along to Patch readers. School is Open – Driving Tips Tredyffrin Township Police in partnership with the AAA Motorists Association Safety Campaign reminds us that with each new school year, we must remain cautious with our driving habits and pay strict attention to traffic laws; especially in the area of school bus stops and school zones. The greatest safety …

It's the first day back for almost all the students in the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District. They may be getting to school in soggy, or even soaking conditions Tuesday morning but the weather probably won't be enough to dampen spirits of T/E's new and returning students. According to figures presented at the August 27 school board 6,450 students are enrolled in the district for the 2012-2013 school year. The number includes aproximately 2,050 students at Conestoga High School. The district will have 439.7 full time employees, ten fewer than in the 2011-2012 school year. School Bus Routes In order to find financial efficiencies, the district has shifted 30 school bus routes this fall. If you have questions about your bus route you can …

Tough economic times are hitting T/E School District students and their families harder than ever. But 181 students will be heading back to school this fall with a big headstart thanks to the generosity of people all over Tredyffrin and Easttown. The annual T&E Care School Supply drive wrapped up late last week with volunteers stuffin new backpacks full of supplies for families struggling to provide the basic "back to school" requirements in the district. See the photos and read the complete story here on the T&E Care wesbite.
