Mr Yang is Back as New Store Opens in Berwyn

A familiar face will be part of a new farmer's market in Berwyn.

Six months after a vicious robbery attack left him without good sight in his left eye, Yong Yang is beginning a new chapter of his life in a new business in an old, familiar location. Fresh Ideas Main Line debuts Friday morning in the building that was home to Yang's Market for more than 14 years. The store has a new owner, a new look and a whole new approach to a farmer's market. It also has the man who came from Korea with his daughter and a dream more than thirty years ago. Mark is not working there. He ultimately opted not to buy the market and it's my undertanding that only then did Aneu purchase the assets and lease from Mr. Yang. I'm not sure what Mark is planning next.   more ›

Letter to the Editor:Yang Family Thanks TE

A moving note of thanks and an update on Mr. Yang's recovery from his daughter.

Chae Yang sent the following letter to the editor to TE Patch: Our family would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has thought of my father after the heart breaking attack in January.  The community support, led by Kim Cuthbert and Stacey Ballard has overwhelmed us.  We have attempted to send everyone a short note of appreciation and I hope we have not missed anyone.     My dad and I immigrated to this country more than 37 years ago with 2 suitcases of clothing.  Since then, my dad has remained in Philadelphia and it’s suburbs working 6 to 7 days a week to ultimately build what is Yang’s Market.  Today, he has no eyesight in his left eye due to the assault; he underwent a difficult and long surgery, which left him with no…
