Rep. Pat Meehan: We are Safer Than on 9/11

Meehan's background includes extensive work on terrorism.

Congressman Patrick Meehan says the United States is safer than it was eleven years ago when terrorists unleashed the deadliest attack on American soil in U.S. History. Meehan's political history is tied to 9/11 and the aftermath of the attacks. He was one of several U.S. Attorneys appointed by President George W. Bush. It took the attacks of 9/11 for the U.S. Senate to finally move to confirm Meehan and several other U.S. Attorney nominees whose appointments had been held up by Capitol Hill politics. They were confirmed within six days of the attacks. Once in office Meehan, who had previously served as the District Attorney for Delaware County, set up an anti-terrorism task force to help coordinate responses to attacks in Southeatern …

Gerhard, you ever so eloquently took the words right out of my mouth. I was reading this article & turned to my lovely wife & said "Renter apartments searched/inspected yearly by code enforcements!", and then lo & behold, you posted THE SAME EXACT THING in the comments here. Great minds think alike, I guess! If you're not too busy this weekend, maybe we could get together for a cold one and a …   more ›

Berwyn Business Remembers Friends from 9/11

Free class giveaway today pays tribute to friends of a TE businesswoman who is a transplanted New Yorker.

Erin Cook is lucky and grateful to have left her apartment in the shadows of the World Trade Center when she did  on the morning of September 11, 2001. Cook, who owns Bikram Yoga Main Line in Berwyn, says she left her apartment in SoHo around six in the morning to take a train to a business meeting in Connecticut. It would be four days before she was able to get back into the city and return home to her dust and debris covered neighborhood. At least she was able to eventually return home. Now, eleven years later, Cook is paying tribute and remembering those who perished on 9/11 by offering free Yoga classes at her studio in Berwyn's Bronze Building. "All of the classes are free (Tuesday)," Cook explains. "People can donate to the Families …

Angels Seen at Flight 93 Crash Site on 9/11?

A former FBI agent believes she saw angels guarding the Flight 93 crash site in Pennsylvania on 9/11 and has written a book about her experience.

A former FBI community liaison has revealed that she believes she saw legions of angels in the mist at the crash site of United Airlines Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2011. Lillie Leonardi is a former police officer who later retired from the FBI due to post-traumatic stress disorder. Leonardi arrived outside of Shanksville, Pa., about three hours after the hijacked airliner crashed and served as a liaison between the agency and the families of crash victims. Leonardi's book, "In the Shadow of a Badge: A Spiritual Memoir," features descriptions of how the plane was seemingly swallowed up by a smoldering crater and only small pieces of debris littered the crash site. "That's when I started seeing like shimmery lights ... and it was kind of misty …

Soos - Why? Because I think it's simply not said enough. When we attribute acts of valor to angels and acts of evil to devils it strips us of the responsibility and gravity of what we do, and undermines our imperative to improve our civilization. If we are not responsible for our own actions - praying for a higher test grade instead of studying, angels guiding hands through the rubble, etc. - …   more ›

Ten Years After 9/11: Are We Safer?

Former U.S. Attorney, now Congressman, Pat Meehan has been on the "front lines" of policy and criminal prosecution of terror for a decade.

U.S. Representative Patrick Meehan (R-PA7) has had a front row seat for the war one terror at the justice department and prosecution level almost from the day the planes hit the World Trade Center, The Pentagon, and the ground outside Shanksville, PA. Meehan, a former Delaware County District Attorney had been nominated for U.S. Attorney for Southeast Pennsylvania in the first months of the George W. Bush presidency. Like countless other Bush nominations, it was stalled in the Senate in the intensely partisan and divisive months following the Supreme Court ruling that gave Bush the White House, instead of former Vice President Al Gore. The attacks of 9/11 put Meehan, and many other Bush nominees on a fast track to confirmation. 9/11 also …
