Tredyffrin Township dates back to 1682 when a group of Welsh Quakers purchased 40,000 acres from William Penn to establish a small farming community. By 1707, the community's population was large enough to be incorporated as a township. The township's population is approximately 29,000 as of the 2010 U.S. Census.
