Beaumont Elementary Students Run, Walk, and Jump to Support Pediatric Lupus Research

Friday, April 11th brought mild, spring weather which provided a great day for Beaumont students who spent their recess walking to support pediatric lupus research by raising money for the Lupus Foundation of America.

Cheered on by parent volunteers waving purple pom-poms (the colour of support for lupus research) and ringing bells, students ran or walked around the athletic field, stopping at designated exercise stations to do push-ups, star jumps, twists, and jumping jacks.

Waiting at the end of the course was a tent where students could get a purple wristband for their participation and refresh with a bottle of water and snack on an apple.

Lupus is often referred to as the "cruel mystery" because so much is not yet known about this  chronic, autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body (skin, joints, and/or organs inside the body).  For more information, please go to www.lupus.org.
