Friday, April 11th will find Beaumont Elementary students spending their lunch recess in a healthy way: walking.
This is not
just due to spring weather finally arriving, so that everyone wants to be
outside, but because they want to contribute to health and well-being in a larger sense by raising funds for the Lupus Foundation of
America, specifically for pediatric research.
Having learned all about lupus at an assembly last
week (it's an autoimmune inflammatory
disease that affects over 1.5 million Americans. More than 25% of all lupus
cases occur before the age of 20 and it can affect any organ or system of the
body) the students have been busy getting sponsors and getting ready to walk.
