After hearing feedback, the Tredyffrin-Easttown School Board decided at its meeting Monday to reinstate spring break.
The board approved a new district calendar, which as of Wednesday has the school year ending on June 20. Students will now attend classes on President's Day, which is Monday, Feb. 17.
The district previously had decided to hold classes during the scheduled spring break, but has changed its mind and reinstated that holiday.
T/E originally had scheduled 182 educational days, though only 180 are required. Therefore, the district said, the next two snow days will not have to be made up. Further, the district said that after consulting with the state Department of Education, "the District learned it will be able to count additional staff non-instructional days toward the required 180 student days. ... The result of these changes will be a total of 179 instructional days."
In a posting on the district's website, it said, "At its discretion, the Board reserves the right to further reschedule instructional days by using days when school is not in session."
Revised Emergency Make-Up Day Schedule, as of 2/11/14: *Day 1: June 17, 2014 *Day 2: June 18, 2014 *Day 3: June 19, 2014 *Day 4: June 20, 2014 *Day 5: February 17, 2014 *Day 6: Student Day Not Rescheduled *Day 7: Student Day Not Rescheduled *Day 8: Student Day Not Rescheduled Day 9: Student Day Not Rescheduled Day 10: Student Day Not Rescheduled
