Stoga Soccer:Back-to-Back Tie (Heart)breakers

Conestoga Boys and Girls Soccer teams see season end in spookily similar endings.

Two Conestoga championship teams show their mettle and fought to the bitter end and beyond Thursday night at Teamer Field.

It was like something out of a movie, but the Pioneers would like to re-write the end to the drama that unfolded in back-to-back tie-breaker/heart-breaker games.

Conestoga Girls Fall to Central Bucks West in Second Shootout

In the first game of the double header the Conestoga girls played through two overtime periods and into a second round of penalty kick shoot-outs.

The girls game went well past the scheduled 7 p.m. start time for the boys, but nobody was paying attention to the clock... just the scoreboard.

At the end of two overtimes, The Pioneers were still deadlocked 1-1 against Central Bucks West. In the end it came to a second shootout round of penalty kicks before CB West edged out the Central League Champs by one single kick.

Conestoga Boys See State Championship Repeat Dream Fall in Shootout

The Conestoga Boys game started about an hour behind schedule and when the clock ran out on the game, it was like deja vu all over again. Another two periods of overtime, another shoot out. Souderton took the shootout 4-3 to advance to the next round.

You can read more about the boys game on the Lansdale Reporter website.
