Should Pennsylvania Secede from the United States?

Petition on official White House website, We The People, has more than 4,000 signatures so far.

The President won a decisive victory but there are still many disgruntled Americans who are not happy with the path Barack Obama has chosen and they want their home states to secede.

Petitions from more than 30 states have been posted on the White House's 'We The People' website - where individuals can post petitions and voice concerns. If a petition gets more than 25,000 electronic signatures then the White House will respond.

A petition for Pennsylvania reads: "Peacefully grant the State of Pennsylvania to withdraw from the United States of America and create a NEW government." On Tuesday evening there were more than 4,000 signatures.

Texas leads the effort with more than 81,000 signatures. Lousiana also has more than 25,000.

Of course there are petitions filed in response to these. One that has 560 signatures says: "Deport Everyone That Signed A Petition To Withdraw Their State From The United States Of America."

There are unrelated petitions as well. For example, there are 3,866 signatures for a petition calling for the United States to "officially recognize American Sign Language as a community language and a language of instruction in schools."

Another one has 1,237 signatures and asks for "an executive order barring job discrimination based on sexual orientation & gender identity by federal contractors."

According to an article in the Huffington Post the following states also have petitions to secede filed: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

So here's your question: Do you think Pennsylvania should secede from the United States? Tell us in the comments.

It is just a way to gather a list of nut balls. Lists of groups are useful to politicans at election time. They are supplying Barack with a thoro list to share with his successor.

Reading through most of the above comments confirms the notion that "the majority" of voters in america continue to list "ignorance of history" as their number one qualification to vote. The idea that a petition to vent dissatisfaction or frustration with the status quo is un-american or un-patriotic is in itself the same. That petition is our bill of rights. Our country was formed not by a war of agression or occupation against England, we did not seek to take over London, but by sucession from british rule! Our rule book, or Constitution, which "the majority" still fails to read or comprehend, does not prohibit sucession by the states. In fact it recognizes the biggest fear of our founders, that too strong a federal government, and too lazy a people, will lead to the abject loss of Liberty, decent into democracy, and eventual tyranny of the elite, the exact situation we now find ourselves in. There is an obligation to question authority. The path is now one of re education, or elevating the minds of "the majority" to comprehend that our Constitutional Republic, or rule of law, protects everyone and every idea from mob rule. Posts like "get out, un-patriotic, stupid, don't let the door hit you, and give these idiots an island" are lamentable, at best. At worst they are dangerous, and lead to further loss of Liberty for us all as we stray further, with each election, from what our great country once was. In my opinion, it's a disgrace what we as a nation have become.
Morgan King November 17, 2012 at 09:04 PM
Threatening to take your state out of the country is basically the very definition of 'unpatriotic,' and it's not remotely the same thing as 'questioning authority,' nor is a formal petition for secession an appropriate avenue of 'venting dissatisfaction or frustration.'

Bill Brantner November 23, 2012 at 08:50 PM
Robert, The only reason Obama won was because of MAJOR VOTER FRAUD and you and the Democrats know it. There is irefutable evidence to prove it!!!!!!
Bill Brantner November 23, 2012 at 09:16 PM
It was unAmerican the way the election was conducted. The ONLY reason Obama won was because of MAJOR VOTER FRAUD and there is plenty of irefutable evidence to prove it. How could there be 141.1% voter turnout in Saint Lucie County, Fl, or 108% turnout in Philadelphia precincts for Obama when he received 10 million less votes this time than in 2008???????
Bill Brantner November 23, 2012 at 09:25 PM
Cindy, you're right. Obama inherited a real mess. HIS OWN!!!!!
Bill Brantner November 23, 2012 at 09:30 PM
Obama did'nt win the election, he stole it by MAJOR VOTER FRAUD and there's plenty of evidence to prove it. Now that's unAmerican!!!!!
Jim Salvas November 23, 2012 at 11:37 PM
Somebody has to correct such cap whenever it appears. Your "evidence" of massive voter fraud is itself fraudulent. St. Lucie reported the number of "cards cast," which means the number of ballot pages scanned. THe ballot was two pages long, so actual voter turnout was around 70%, about what it was in many other areas. When you hear something idiotic from now on, even if it agrees with your own prejudices, question the idiots!

Go back to your Fox fantasy bubble. You drank the Kool-aid and believe the propaganda. If Hitler were here you'd have joined the brown shirts.

Bill Brantner - If you look at the figures for Florida counties - the actual results - you'll see that they are posting the number of CARDS, not the number of BALLOTS. Big difference. In many counties, there are two cards per ballot. Not everyone submits both - I'm not sure whether the second is for instructions, or for referendums - but many people only submit the first card, which is for the candidates themselves. That's why many of the percentages are between 100% and 200% in several counties, including many counties that were solidly Republican.
CyD252 November 24, 2012 at 02:01 PM
Crap - Should have read before posting. Jim Salvas already said the same thing - and he's completely correct.
Uncle Floyd November 24, 2012 at 08:16 PM
Mr. Brantner, Please provide at least one, or if possible more, reputable, vetted source and detailed evidence by state, territory or possession that backs up your claim or like my brothers in Vietnam, at least share the weed, so we can share the laughter at your BS, El Toro Pu Pu, etc...
Bill November 25, 2012 at 01:15 AM
O Voter Fraud. Was it stolen or did he win? Wish list complete. More Senators check, same sex marriage check, legalize weed check, abortion on demand check, everybody hand getting greased check, check, check. Things that make you go Uhm... Came across this web site that is logging the voter fraud reported and investigated by news services. Click each link and read the articles if you have the time. http://obamavoterfraud.blogspot.com/2012/11/barack-obama-voter-fraud-2012.html?m=1
Bill November 25, 2012 at 01:46 AM
O fraud con't Might want to check this as well. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/maker-of-unskewed-polls-creates-obama-voter-fraud-map-see-which-states-he-thinks-shouldve-been-romneys/ The sad thing is that nothing will be done. George Sorros specifically spent money on Attorney General elections at all levels because that position controls law enforcement and the decision whether an investigation is necessary or just do NOTHING. Example: Fed AG's scandals Fast & Furious (3 Americans officers killed & 1000's of Mexicans), the investigation of national security data leaked to reporters, CIA director maybe compromised and under FBI investigation but AG claims not telling Pres. etc... So, Rep know they can't even get an investigation, and if the details were to come out it would probably rip the country apart.
Tim Again. November 25, 2012 at 02:36 PM
Bill Brantner..........There was GOP fraud. Move On or Move Away if you don't like it.
David Curran November 25, 2012 at 03:56 PM
Speaking of investigations; I hope there is a thorough investigation detailing how much money the Corbett adm. wasted on their attempts at voter suppression. I gotta tell ya, that was the most amateurish government roll out of policy I have ever seen.
Uncle Floyd November 25, 2012 at 05:37 PM
OH NOOOO! Mr Bill, Since when did blogs, facebook, twittter, I know someone, I have a friend, I heard this, So and so said or heard this, etc count as reliable news sources?

Mr. Bill, Based on the owner of this web site, you really believe what someone says that was fired from Fox News? Even Grover Norquit and Bill NO'Reilly have concerns about Glenn Becketless? Maybe you can get a job at fanatical/fantasy land at Area 51?
Bill November 25, 2012 at 08:16 PM
Oh Yesss, uncie flood, that's all you got? Trolling much. Next time click n read the ARTICLES before commenting. The FaceBook link was only a way to follow his progress not a list of comments. No reply button on post - typical Troll
Bill November 25, 2012 at 08:28 PM
Uncie & David "C" So typical, can't address the issues so change the subject, then try name calling and disparaging the opponent in public. Where do you learn this stuff? It's really dark. God bless
Uncle Floyd November 26, 2012 at 09:38 PM
Bill and/or Bill Brantner (Not sure if you are one and the same?), The original subject of these posts was: "So here's your question: Do you think Pennsylvania should secede from the United States? Tell us in the comments." Then a respondent mentioned race, next there was the fraud remark? So, who is not addressing the issues? Also, please provide the irrefutable evidence in your statement, "The ONLY reason Obama won was because of MAJOR VOTER FRAUD and there is plenty of irefutable(irrefutable) evidence to prove it. The ARTICLES that you referenced did not provided credible, vetted sources just links to more supposition and opinions, not facts. As for the name calling, Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones but, Whips and Chains Excite ME!" If I am a troll, great. I am a mythical creature and you are a figment of my imagination or if I was trolling, I caught a really big one? More to follow.
Uncle Floyd November 26, 2012 at 09:38 PM
The rest of the details, My remarks, by definition, were not disparaging however, these are: "Obama did'nt win the election, he stole it by MAJOR VOTER FRAUD and there's plenty of evidence to prove it. Now that's unAmerican!!!!!" and "Robert, The only reason Obama won was because of MAJOR VOTER FRAUD and you and the Democrats know it. There is irefutable evidence to prove it!!!!!!" I learned this stuff by surviving, as a blue baby, at birth while my father was serving in WW II, contracting polio and loosing playmates to it at age 5, going to a one room K-12 school in rural Mississippi, working as a roughneck in the oil fields of WV, volunteering for the service, safe from the lottery, being stationed in Alaska for 2 years and a Vietnam War Vet-Amphibious Ready Group 11/68-5/69, completed college(CBU BSBA'75 ) while working full time and counseling WW II, Korean and Vietnam veterans about educational opportunities, with aid from the GI Bill and a student loan(paid back before graduation), buried 2 cousins due to drugs, being a Veteran Owned Small Business owner and voting in every eligible election and you? Dark is when you cannot see the truth in the light or when your "Eyes are Wide Shut”?
Minchoff Gomorkovsky November 26, 2012 at 11:19 PM
I think secession would probably be a good thing for Pennsylvania on purely economic grounds. As a nation State, Pennsylvania would be free from the national debt and unfunded liabilities of the federal government. Pennsylvania has a tremendous wealth of untapped natural gas reserves just starting to be realized, and would essentially be able to tap that wealth as an energy exporter. What would we lose leaving the federal government - the various departments - Agriculture (we can learn what we need to know from the Amish), Education (been dragging us down for decades), Commerce (we can set our own rules), Treasury (I think we could afford our own printing press), Defense ( just my guess but I think we could handle an invasion from New Jersey or Ohio). The U.S. is going down the tubes with its deficit spending and when it hits the cesspool we'll probably be hearing a bit more about the possibility of secession. Most people are still living in their perfect worlds with very limited knowledge about the true state of the nation. The day of reckoning is soon upon us and it will be interesting to see the reaction of the crowd followers when it happens.
