Seminar on Nov. 21 to Offer Help for Graduating Students and Others With Disabliites

Understanding the web of federal and state programs can be difficult, this workshop may be able to help.

s is hosting a seminar on November 21st for graduating students with disabilities who may have questions and concerns about how entering the workforce after graduation could affect their social security and other government benefit payments.

“Work Incentive and Benefits Management Planning”

Are you or a family member unsure how employment income will affect SSI or SSDI benefits? Are you graduating from high school and need to understand how work may affect your benefits? Untangle the myths and misconceptions about earned income and Social Security benefits eligibility and continuation. Work incentive counseling helps individuals understand how work impacts Social Security benefits and assists them in maximizing federal and state work incentives.

 Date:               Monday, November 21, 2011 --  6:30pm-8:30pm

Presenter:       Norma Realpe is Employment Coordinator at AHEDD, where she coordinates community work incentives and employment for people between the ages of 16 and 30. She assists individuals with disabilities in navigating social security benefits (SSI/SSDI) while competitively employed and maintaining their health, cash and/or waiver benefits.
