- A victim on Conestoga Road in Berwyn reported to police on June 10 that they wired $1,750 via Wells Fargo for the purchase of a vehicle that they had seen posted for sale on a website. The victim was told the balance had to be paid in full before the vehicle would be released. Tredyffrin Police warn residents to beware of purchasing a vehicle sight unseen, and to verify the legitimacy of both the website and the vehicle before any money changes hands.
- On June 12, an elderly victim at Paoli Pointe in Paoli was called by a man claiming to be his grandson. The caller said that he had been arrested and need money for court fees. The victim purchased MoneyPak cards in the amount of $4,500 and gave the PIN information to the caller before he realized the caller was a phony, police said.
