Easttown Police say a 16-year-old Maryland male with family connections to Easttown is facing multiple charges in connection with a one-man crime spree.
Police say the teen, whose name is not being released because he is a juvenile, was first observed by a neighbor breaking into a basement window of a home in the 300 block of Berkley Road in Easttown on Monday (Jan 7).
The neighbor called police who "swarmed the area" just after 7 a.m.. At 10:30 a.m. police found a car at Johnson Park that was reported missing stolen in Maryland. Police say the suspect in the stolen vehicle case matched the general description of the teen spotted breaking into the home on Berkley Road.
According to police, the car was reported stolen by a Maryland woman who presumed, but did not know, that her grandson had taken the vehicle without her knowledge or permission.
Police say the teenager was found and arrested at the Easttown Library and Information Center. He was taken to the Chester County juvenile detention facility and faces burglary and stolen vehicle charges. The vehicle was impounded and will be released to the owners pending proceedings in the case.
Police say the teen used to live in the area.
