Four Break-ins In Bala Cynwyd, Police Say

Lower Merion police briefed media on Monday.

On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion police reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in Bala Cynwyd:

Burglary: A homeowner returned to his home on the 100 block of Ashland Ave. on Nov. 6, to find the home ransacked. A window on the rear door had been broken out and entry was forced, police said; it is unknown if anything is missing.

Theft from vehicle: Between noon and 1:15 p.m. on Nov. 8, a construction truck parked at Cynwyd Train Station had a window smashed out and a camera worth $150 stolen, police said.

Retail theft: Around noon on Nov. 9, police responded to a report of a theft at Lord & Taylor in Bala Cynwyd. The actor was apprehended at St. Asaph’s Road outside of Lord & Taylor and arrested for stealing a Nautica jacket worth $189, police said.

Retail theft: A 24-year-old man was arrested after stealing $244 in merchandise from Lord & Taylor on Nov. 9, according to police. At 2:14 p.m., police responded to a report of a theft in progress at the Lord & Taylor in Bala Cynwyd; the man was placed under arrest for retail theft.

Burglary: About $2,600 in jewelry was stolen from a home on the unit block of Academy Rd. in Bala Cynwyd on the evening of Nov. 9, police said. The homeowner, who left the home around 7 p.m., returned home around 12:51 p.m. and found the home ransacked and the jewelry taken, police said.

Burglary: Sometime between Nov. 9 and 11, a home on the 800 block of Levering Mill Rd. had a door pushed in and the home ransacked. Nothing was reported missing, police said.

Theft from vehicle: Between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 11, a wallet was stolen from an unlocked car on the 400 block of Conshohocken State Rd. in Bala Cynwyd, police said. According to the report, VISA contacted the wallet’s owner to report that $7,000 had been charged to the cards.

Burglary: Sometime between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Nov. 11, someone entered a home on the unit block of Academy Road in Bala Cynwyd by removing a screen from a rear window, police said. Nothing was reported missing, according to the report.
