Evening Commute Could Be Snowy

Tonight's commute could be slippery.

Snow is in today’s forecast.

An advisory from the National Weather Service reads:

LIGHT SNOW IS EXPECTED TO OVERSPREAD THE AREA FROM WEST TO EAST FRIDAY AFTERNOON. BY EARLY EVENING, IT SHOULD BE SNOWING ACROSS ALL AREAS. THE SNOW IS THEN EXPECTED TO TAPER OFF AROUND MIDNIGHT.

IMPACTS...GIVEN THE CONTINUATION OF VERY COLD CONDITIONS ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA, THE SNOW WILL ACCUMULATE IMMEDIATELY. THE START TIME OF THE SNOW SHOULD AFFECT THE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING COMMUTE. UNTREATED ROADS AND WALKWAYS WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED, RESULTING IN AREAS OF HAZARDOUS TRAVEL.

Snow is likely, mainly after 3 p.m., according the the NWS forecast, with a high near 21. Most of the snow is expected to fall before midnight with an overnight low of 20 and accumulations of 1-2 inches.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Tweeted Thursday: “We aim to keep roads passable, not completely free of ice & snow. A few inches of precip. is needed before we can plow.“

So the evening commute could be a slippery one.

Are you thinking of leaving work early to avoid the worst of it? Did you stay home today to avoid the cold and snow? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.

No worries here in The General Warren Village. The gentleman from EW Public Works who plows the Village does a remarkable job. I wish I could offer you more than a cold water or a cup of hot coffee.....
