Yang Family Sends More Good News to TE Patch

Daughter of robbery and beating victim tells Patch doctors are hopeful for a quicker recovery, but there's still some uncertainty.

Last Wednesday night members of the Berwyn and surrounding community raised $2,500 to help Yong Yang and his family meet expenses related to Yang’s recovery after thieves beat him and left him without sight in his left eye.

One week later Yang's daughter Chae tells TE Patch that doctors are now hopeful that they can restore her dad's eye in one operation instead of multiple surgeries.  According to Chae Yang Bullock, an operation scheduled for April 2 will now attempt to "1) remove scar tissue; 2) transplant a cornea; and 3) implant an artificial lens."

That is an even more optimistic outlook than reported last week when Mark Morroney updated Patch on Yang's condition. Morroney, a long-time market employee and Yong Yang's former son-in-law, is purchasing Yang's Farmer Market.

Here is the letter Chae Yang Bullock asked TE Patch to share with readers:

Our family has exciting news about Yang’s Market and Mr. Yang’s health progress that we would like to share with the community.

My dad, Mr. Yang, has taken the first steps in reducing his responsibilities of owning the Market as he has agreed to transition his ownership to long-time Yang’s Market’s employee Mark Morroney.

In addition, the opthmologists have scheduled Mr. Yang for additional eye surgery on April 2nd.  Assuming that everything goes perfect, the doctors will attempt the following three (3) procedures: 1) to remove scar tissue; 2) transplant a cornea; and 3)implant an artificial lens.

The doctors are excited, but remain cautious as they will only know the extent of the procedures when they begin the surgery.  Also, the doctors have stressed that any potential eye sight recovery will only be known after all three (3) procedures are performed; and an additional surgery may be necessary if they are unable to successfully completed all three (3) procedures on April 2nd.

We remain hopeful and continue to be grateful to all of the people in the community for their support and warm thoughts.

We will continue to keep you and the community posted with any updates on Mr. Yang and the Market.

Sincerely,

Chae Bullock
