A new, long-awaited state wine & spirits store is expected to open in Paoli in mid-March.
A shop owner in one of the adjoining stores in the Paoli Shopping Center says workers finished gutting the huge space on on Monday, clearing the way for construction to begin on the new PLCB store.
The new store is expected to replace in the , a few miles to the west, behind the Burger King on Lancaster Ave.
Back in December a manager at the current store told Patch he had been told the new store was scheduled to open "sometime in the mid-March time frame" but he was not certain of a date and the timing could shift.
Now it appears that a major step has been taken toward the new store as workers finished clearing out and gutting the interior of the space earlier this week.
The new store is expected to include an expanded wine collection as well as a walk-through refrigerated wine showroom. Many other newer state stores have a similar feature.
Adjoining merchants in the section of the Paoli shopping center () are looking forward to having the store finally take the place of four retail storefronts that have been empty for months.
owner says the new wine & spirits store will help drive foot traffic past her shop which is located halfway between the Acme and the anticipated new state store.
