New Owner for ANRO Site is Now Official

Plans are now moving ahead for new business to go in on the site on Lancaster Avenue in Devon.

Easttown Township officials are confirming that a new car dealership will be coming to Lancaster Avenue on the site that was formerly home to ANRO Printing.

Y.B.H. Audi has purchased the site and plans to move its Audi dealership from West Chester Pike/Route 3 in Edgemont to the property in Devon.  Easttown Township Supervisor Marc Heppe told members of the Berwyn Devon Business Association on Monday Night that Y.B.H. plans to raze the main building on the property to make way for the dealership.  Heppe told the association members that the auto dealer plans to keep the currently empty bank building on the west end of the property and lease it out to another bank.

Heppe says Y.B.H. will still need to get final approval for development plans, including improvements for storm water management on the site.

Easttown Township Manager Mike Brown told TE Patch the dealership's plans will next come up for a formal review at the township level in November.

Heppe told the business association members that while another new car dealership next to Euro Motorcar may not have been his personal first choice for the site, it does fit in with zoning and the businesses that are already on that section of Lancaster Avenue.

It's a shame they have to knock the building down. I know it's not achitecturally significant, but it's not unpleasant to look at and the landscaping has always been well-maintained. I hope the dealership won't build one of those tacky red and silver metallic-faced Nissan? type buildings.

The neighborhood opposition to a grocery store put an end to any kind of walk-in retail option for that space. Why not another car dealership?

I'm really just curious when I ask this: With the Acme and Whole Foods so close by, what kind of grocery store would folks like to see in Devon...another "regular" grocery store or something a "little" more specialized like a Trader Joe's?

TJ's would have been my first choice or something more creative than another car dealer but it makes sense and we are probably stuck with it.
