North Valley Road in Tredyffrin Township is open again after the a long weekend closure.
Crews assembled and raised into place a pedestrian footbridge for the new Chester Valley Trail, which crosses North Valley Road a stone’s throw from Route 202
A 500-ton crane was brought in to lift the bridge and its railings. See video of the crane at work.
This bridge appears to have a surface to walk or bike on as well as the railings, which the bridge installed over Valley Forge Road in June still lacks. Crews were scheduled to add those important items to the Valley Forge Road bridge last Thursday, but the work was postponed due to issues manufacturing issues, according to David Stauffer with the Chester County Facilities & Parks Department.
Although the bridge and some of the trail may look ready to use, they are not. The entire trail is still considered a construction zone, according to Stauffer.
The trail is expected to open in the fall.
