             Make Waves and Change Lives!

 The Ability Program Department is the heart of the Upper Main Line YMCA’s mission.  Our Ability Program participants come in all shapes, sizes and abilities and our goal is to provide an all-inclusive environment where individuals with disABILITIES can thrive in a fun, safe and welcoming environment.    Ability programs are designed for individuals who are physically, neurological, cognitive challenges and/or have difficulty connecting with peers. Many, but not all, have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down Syndrome and/or related sensory challenges.  Individual differences are to be celebrated in an inclusive recreational experience, allowing the Y to fully deliver on its mission of “enriching all people in spirit, mind and body.”  The Y is all-encompassing. It’s the ability that counts and all the possibilities that are the most important.

WHO?         All-inclusive - open to anyone in the age range of 3 years to 18 years

 WHAT?       Swim as many laps as you can in 1.5 hours.

 WHERE?     Upper Main Line YMCA  “A” Pool and Bubble Pool

 WHEN? Saturday, April 6, 2013 2:00pm – 5:00pm

 WHY?         This event will raise money for Ability Programming through the Changing Lives Annual Campaign. It will create awareness for all abilities and celebrate individual’s differences.  

 COST:         In order to qualify, each swimmer will need to secure $50.00 in sponsorships.

Registration fee: $10.00 

All registered swimmers will receive a t-shirt and certificate for participating in the Swim-a-thon.

SCHEDULE:         

 2:00pm -3:30pm - participants in pool (A pool and Bubble pool)

3:30pm -3:45pm - swimmers change

3:45pm - Celebratory reception in Café – refreshments, distribute t-shirts and certificates

4:00pm – Announce the amount raised and Thank you

5:00pm – End
