Students in the Tredyffrin-Easttown School District will be in school for a couple of extra days to make up for the two emergency school closing days prompted by Hurricane Sandy. A revised school district schedule published on the T/E School District website moves the last day of classes to Tuesday June 18, 2013. As it stands now that day will be a half day for students in grades 1-12. There will be no Kindergarten on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. Two days after Sandy stormed through Tredyffrin and Easttown utility crews are still working on some area roads, that remain closed as of the pre-dawn hours on Thursday. See the attached pdf for a list from Tredyffrin Township. If you see a porblem on Tredyffrin Roads that you don't see on the list tell us about in the comments section at the bottom of this article.  
The Tredyffrin Easttown School District is opening two hours late Wednesday morning. A big part of the late start is getting kids to school safely. The big concern is that there are trees down on roads all over the district and many bus stops, even a few scattered neighborhoods are cut off from school bus (and in some places even private vehicle access). Winds that gust to hurricane strength can do some mighty powerful things. Emergency utility trucks from new Orleans can cause some big sparks when the crane scrapes the underside of the Strafford Amtrak underpass. The truck's two man crew arrived in Tredyffrin from New Orleans later Tuesday night after driving four straight days to get here to help with the power restoriation efforts. They were heading south on Old Eagle School Road toward Lancaster Avenue when the truck driver discovered that the arm which carries a bucket and huge drill bit for drilling phone poll holes was a smidge too …
Berwyn Fire Company officials are asking TE residents who don't need to leave home today to stay put. There are several roads in the township with trees down or lights out, including several on Lancaster Avenue as of late morning. Berwyn Assistant Fire Chief Eamon Brazunas says walking around your neighborhood or local streets can also be dangerous with high winds still gusting in the area. He points out that high winds can pick up downed tree limbs and other debris and turn them into flying debris. Schools in the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District will be closed again Tuesday due to the storm and aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. An recorded anouncement from the school district says a decision will be made Tuesday afternoon about Wednesday. Acording to the school closing list posted on NBCPhiladelphia's website: The Timothy School, The Woodlynde School,  St. Katharine's School in Radnor, St Norbert's in Paoli, St Monica Catholic Education classes are also closed. Chester County Emergency Services is operating two shelters for county residents throughout Hurricane Sandy. One is at Lionville Middle School in the Downingtown/Exton area. The other is in Avondale. Both shelters are pet friendly, according to the County's Emergency Services Website.
