Officials in both Tredyffrin and Easttown Townships say it's up to each resident or family  to make the decision on whether or not to trick or treat tonight. Neither township is in a legal position to allow or prohibit trick or treating and neither wants to offer an official opinion. The police chiefs in both townships say it should be at the parents' discretion and that all kids should use caution when walking around in the wake of debris that may be left after Hurricane Sandy. Tredyffrin Police are sponsoring a Halloween Costume Open House/Safety Check open house event Wednesday afternoon from 3-5 p.m. at the Tredyffrin Township Muncipal Building. Public safety officials will be on hand to suggest anything that might improve your child's costume in terms of being seen or being able to see to get around as night falls on this Halloween. While driving home the other day, out of the blue, one of my three daughters declared "I can't wait for the all-you-can-eat candy buffet!" Without any context I turned blankly and asked her what she was talking about. "Trick or treating," she quipped with a big smile on her face.
