Tredyffrin's police chief says "he's just a great cop". Officer Jim Slavin is Tredyffrin's Officer of the Year.  Slavin was selected for the honor by an awards committee comprised of officers and supervisors, and also recognized at this week's Tredyffrin Board of Supervisor's meeting. Three volunteers from the Berwyn Fire Company are among the newest graduates of the Pennsylvania Entry Level Firefighters program. Jacob Nemetz, Carl Weisbecker and Elizabeth Schew were among 32 graduates recognized Monday at the Montgomery County Fire Academy, according to a company spokeswoman.

Matt Norris is Chief of the Berwyn Fire Company. He is the company's 15th Chief. As one of the company's 65 volunteers he juggles public safety, full time work and family responsibilities every day. Matt and his wife are the proud parents of Sophie, who was born the same month that her father, a 19 year veteran of the fire company, became chief.
