Local first responders, like the people they serve, were affected by the events of September 11, 2001. Eamon Brazunas, a volunteer Captain with the Berwyn Fire Company, is like many of his fellow firefighters in Berwyn, Paoli and Radnor as well as around the nation. He was a freshman in college at Kent State University in Ohio. He was already a volunteer firefighter. Capt. Brazunas comes from a family of firefighters. On Friday, members of the Fire Company took part in a mass to honor fallen first responders at Devon Prep in Devon. People in the communities of Tredyffrin and Easttown will mark the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the United States in ways ranging from quiet reflection to continued public service. There will be a ceremony to mark the anniversary this evening at 5:45 Wilson Farm Park prior to the rescheduled Cool Beans summer concert. Police officers and firefighters from Florida, Texas and the Carolinas bicycled through the Upper Main Line Friday morning as part of the fourth annual Brotherhood Ride in honor of fallen firefighters and police officers. They planned to arrive at Ground Zero Saturday afternoon for 9/11 anniversary events in New York City. Their 1,600 mile trek from Naples, Fl to the Big Apple travelled right along the Upper Main Line on Friday morning. The riders went from Coatesville, PA to Princeton, NJ on day 21 of the 22 day cycling trip. The riders were escorted by local police and firefighters from …
U.S. Representative Patrick Meehan (R-PA7) honored the memory of a friend who was killed aboard one of the planes that were hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center. Meehan made his remarks Friday afternoon in the House chamber. Meehan was nominated and confirmed as a U.S. Attorney in the aftermath of the attacks.
