TMACC, Transportation Management Assoc. of Chester County, has announced they have been awarded a grant to evaluate a proposed connection between the Paoli Transportation Center and the new Chester Valley Trail (CVT) that is now under construction.
This 1.2 mile project would follow West Central Ave. and Cedar Hollow Rd. to the CVT near Vanguard and would support a link to the proposed Patriots Path.
TMACC Executive Director, Tim Phelps, says "Connecting Paoli to employment hubs with a network of trails and sidewalks enables more commuters to bike and walk to work. Less traffic, cleaner air."
This project, which should begin this fall, also supports TMACC's multi-modal study of the Route 29 corridor.

The only difficulty with this for commuter use will be the elevation change from the Trail to Paoli Station--about 250 - 300 vertical feet over the course of about a half mile. A fun descent (from Lancaster Avenue down toward Swedesford Road or the Trail but the climb is not for the faint of heart (or those in poor cardiovascular condition). Fortunately, the Paoli Hospital ER is close by.

You are correct about the dificuly in finding and developing a useable route. This is thoroughly discussed in the study that was done a few years ago. This link: http://www.tredyffrin.org/pdf/community/PTC%20Trail%20Connection%20Alternatives.pdf to the Tredyffrin Township site provides the intial study that was done and you might be interested in. Thanks!

Robert: Thank you for providing a link to the study. Of the alternatives for climbing from the Trail to Central Avenue, Alternative B2 looks like it has the most potential to me for riders/pedestrians coming from the west. For riders coming from the east, Cassatt/Howellville Road is probably the easiest to navigate, based on my experience riding in the area.
