Trick or Treat as You Wish in TT and Easttown

Neither townships takes any official position "for" or "against" trick or treating tonight.

Officials in both Tredyffrin and Easttown Townships say it's up to each resident or family  to make the decision on whether or not to trick or treat tonight.

Neither township is in a legal position to allow or prohibit trick or treating and neither wants to offer an official opinion.

The police chiefs in both townships say it should be at the parents' discretion and that all kids should use caution when walking around in the wake of debris that may be left after Hurricane Sandy. Both strongly suggest that a parent should accompany trick or treaters for the kids' safety.

Local neighborhood or civic associations may be organizations that would want to make voluntary plans for specific neighborhoods, but neither township is weighing in on whether or not to trick treat tonight.

Easttown and Tredyffrin both will have extra officers on patrol tonight. Easttown Police Chief David Obzud tells TE Patch that was scheduled before Sandy even became a threat and the extra manpower is just a contingency in case of emergencies in the township.

Wow, if you don't want to offer an "official opinion", don't be our represented officials! This is only a minor Halloween issue (albeit perhaps a safety issue) , but take a stand.....any stand!

Ridiculous. Taking a stand is not the issue here
Safety is. And realizing how important this is to many residents seems to be missed. Very dissapointing

And no one was maimed, poisoned or otherwise harmed? Whew....thank goodness things worked out well considering they were out without the blessings of the township.

What a courageous stand in the face of holiday tradition. I'm sure that all residents of both townships are proud that our local governments were willing to stick their necks out so far in the face of such a controversial decision. And I for one will sleep easier tonight knowing that we have men and women of such certitude looking out for us.

Lol at being in a "legal position" on trick or treating. Funny stuff. What, does the township think they will be sued or something?

Weak.... You have offered no guidance at all. Have an opinion. Making a statement saying "do what you want" is silly. Now there is even less guidance.
Personally, I think that trick or treating should always be pushed to the weekend for the kids sake. And yes I know that we might loose the connection to all saints day by doing that, but my 3 year old doesn't really care.
