T&E Care Helps Hundreds of Kids Get Clothes

Even organizers say they were surprised by what happened Saturday.

Hundreds of kids will have new tops, pants, dresses and shoes thanks to thousands of donations given to support T & E Care's first ever Kids' Grab Bag Clothing sales.

Table after table of gently used clothes were available for shoppers Saturday at Saint Matthews United Methodist Church of Valley Forge. Sandi Gorman is T&E Care's Founder and the driving force behind the clothing drive and sale which offered local families the chance to stuff bags full of donated clothes for just $5.

Everything from never-worn designer clothes to new and gently used shoes were donated for the sale. By the time the sale ended at 1 p.m. tables in the church's huge assembly room were still overflowing with donated clothes.

Gorman tells TE Patch the clothes that were not purchased Saturday are being given to several local charities for distribution to families in need.

Gorman says the response to the call for donations was "overwhelming, just incredible."  Gorman wanted to be sure to thank the people of Saint Matthews Church.  "The church bent over backwards to help us. From providing the space to offering drinks and cookies to people at the front door, it was just incredible," Gorman said.

Clothes were collected for a week in boxes in the lobbies of every T/E School District school and at several businesses around Tredyffrin and Easttown.

What a great story. Some people claim that the media only reports on the doom and gloom, but this is another shining example of the media highlighting the good that our society does. I do hope that more people take notice of this.
