Suspect in Missing Teenager Case Due in Court
Virginia man is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old Upper Main Line girl and taking her to DC.
Ashley Ryan Hareford, 20, of Grottoes, Virginia, is scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning for a preliminary hearing on multiple felony charges including Involuntary Deviant Sexual Intercourse, Statutory Sexual Assault, Indecent Assault, Criminal Use of a Communication Facility, Aggravated Indecent Assault, Indecent Exposure and Corrupting the Morals of a Minor.
Hareford was captured in Washington, DC on a Megabus from Philadelphia in December. He was found along with his alleged 13-year-old victim from Radnor after police got a tip the two were on the bus.
According to police, Hareford and a 13-year-old Garrett Hill resident met online. After Hareford traveled to Radnor and the girl disappeared from her home on Dec. 3, she was found Tuesday Dec. 4 around 7 p.m. as she and Hareford stepped off of a Mega Bus in D.C.
Hareford is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Thursday morning in front of District Judge David Lang in Newtown Square. Hareford has been held in Delaware County Prison on one million dollars cash bail since being brought back to Radnor last month.
