Police: Suspect Targeted Elderly in Her Care

Tredyffrin police arrest a caregiver who they say targeted the most vulnerable victims.

INTERNAL THEFTS

1/16/2013 at 1100 hours - Tredyffrin Detectives arrested Regina Oliver, 37, of the 1900 block of Wallace St., Philadelphia, PA, for a series of thefts from several elderly residents of Highgate Assisted Living.

Oliver had been a caregiver at the facility, when victimizing residents ranging in age from 80-90 years of age. Oliver was diverting cash and jewelry, pawning it at Philadelphia pawn shops. Oliver was charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking (8 counts.), Receiving Stolen Property (8 counts.) and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Sondergaard of the Chesterbrook District Court. Oliver was released on $10,000 unsecured bail. Oliver is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at District Court 15-4-01 on 1/25/2013.

Superintendent Giaimo remarked, “I want to congratulate the Detective Division for a job well done. Their efforts showcase the need for thorough investigations to keep our most at-risk residents safe.”
