Superbowl Sunday is one of the biggest days of the year for take-out pizza and chicken wings orders.
And if you're planning on ordering for game time or even pre-game you may want to consider ordering early. Several local restaurants and carryout places told Patch they're expected an onslaught, starting when the pre-game shows go on the air in the afternoon.
At Pizza Hut/Wing Street in Paoli Friday afternoon staffers recommended calling in early on Superbowl Sunday. It's certainly not a requirement, but they say it just helps with preparation time and speed. Several others area take-out places Patch spoke with late in the week echoed those sentiments, especially if you're going to have an unusually large order.
The wholesale cost of chicken wings has skyrocketed, just in time for the big game. Several area restaurant owners tell Patch that the cost of chicken wings has shot up from a little under two dollars per pound to (in some cases) nearly three dollars per pound. That puts a big squeeze on small business owners who are reluctant to raise prices and must eat the temporary price increase from their suppliers.
Back in October TE Patch asked our readers to rate the best pizza places in Tredyffrin and Easttown.
The winner by two votes, with 21 percent of the vote is Berwyn Pizza. Here's a link to what some reviewers have said about Berwyn Pizza.
Bravissimo Pizza and Pasta came in a close second with 19 percent of the vote.
Phil's Famous Pizza took the bronze in our unscientific Patch reader's poll garnering 14 percent of the vote.
A few weeks ago TE Patch readers were still partial to Wings to Go wings, even though the Paoli wing restaurant wasn't even there anymore.
Among the places that are open and serving wings, Berwyn Tavern scored 22 percent of the vote.
