Gleason Named Interim Easttown Township Manager
Former Tredyffrin Township manager Mimi Gleason replaces Gene Williams, who replaced Mike Brown in February.
The Easttown Board of Supervisors appointed Mimi Gleason to the position of interim township manager at its regular business meeting Monday night.
Gleason worked as township manager in Tredyffrin for seven years before resigning in July 2012. She replaces Gene Williams, who served as Easttown's township manager for four decades, retired in 2011 and reluctantly returned in February on a temporary basis after the abrupt departure of Mike Brown.
Williams will stay on as a consultant during Gleason's transition period. The supervisors thanked him for coming out of his retirement to once again serve the township.
"On behalf of the board and the residents, I want to sincerely thank Gene Williams for jumping in to help keep the township running in this interim period," board chairman Jim Oram said. "Without his help, the residents would not have experienced the continuing of the high level of service they expect from us."
Gleason was not present Monday night during the quick, unanimous vote to install her as interim township manager. No members of the board or public offered comments before the vote.
