Gas Prices Skyrocket, AAA Says
Click to here to find the cheapest price in Tredyffrin and Easttown.
This past week has seen gas prices jumping more than two digits in many areas of the country, including the Philadelphia area, according to AAA.
AAA attributes the price jump to a rise in crude oil prices and some refineries closing for good or for maintenance. They call this week-over-week spike the most dramatic in nearly two years.
In the Tredyffrin-Easttown Patch, the best price is $3.68 at the 7-Eleven in Paoli on Lancaster Avenue, according to Patch’s commute report.
Here are the average gas prices from February 5, according to AAA:
| Area | Average Price | Jump in last week |
| Philadelphia (5-County) | $3.67/gallon | 18 cents |
| South Jersey | $3.52/gallon | 18 cents |
| Delaware | $3.62/gallon | 21 cents |
| National | $3.53/gallon | 17 cents |
Reality Check

It's not refineries or price of crude - it's just market manipulation. The price will rise to just north of $4 (just a bit higher than last year's peak), the news will make it a "Breaking News" item and by mid/late May prices will start a slow retreat.
