Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent in many Christian faiths. It's also a time when many Christians sacrifice or give something up as a way to honor Christ or remove barriers to knowing God.

At Handel's Ice Cream in Berwyn they are taking a light hearted approach to their sign, but in these economic times the message may also be heart felt.  It's undoubtedly a sentiment shared by other local businesses that offer treats or sweets that are often sacrificed for Lent.

I saw their sign yesterday, and happily obliged by picking up a quart of half Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownie, half Coffee Heath!
