Air Quality Alert Issued for Friday

A "Code Orange" air quality alert means people with health conditions should take precautions.

 

A "code orange" alert for air pollution has been issued for the Tredyffrin-Easttown area Friday. The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission put out the alert for the entire Philadelphia area.

There is also a possibility of strong winds Friday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.

A code orange air quality alert means that air pollution concentrations with the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups. ... The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.

Sensitive groups include:

  • children
  • the elderly
  • people suffering from asthma
  • people suffering from heart disease
  • people suffering from lung diseases
