Updates Ahead for Some Tredyffrin Parks

The Tredyffrin Park System is undergoing some improvements in 2013. In an effort to enhance the quality of our playing fields the Tredyffrin Park Board has asked the township to install a "Fields Closed" sign at Wilson Park. Fields may be closed for a number of reasons, including wet conditions which are the primary cause of field damage. Teams and players will continue to be able to check the township website for field closure updates.

To further improve field conditions, by expanding potential playing time, the park board is looking into the installation of lights at two fields at Wilson Park. The park board will be presenting this idea at a public Board of Superivisor meeting on January 28.

At Friendship Park we are making a safety improvement for the Spring of 2013 by replacing the playground sand with woodchips. Over the years the playground sand had become home to a colony of digger wasps known as cicada killers, which never posed a physical threat to park visitors, but certainly appeared threatening. Public Works has already started removing the sand. This project was sponsored in part by the Tredyffrin Parks Foundation, which is a private non-profit group that sponsors events and materials to improve the township park system.
