Diwali – Festival of Lights Celebration at the Lionville Community YMCA
The YMCA is pleased to present its 7th annual Diwali celebration on Saturday, November 10, from 3 to 8:00 p.m. where more than 1,100 people are expected at the YMCA (located at 100 Devon Drive, Exton, PA 19341) for the single most celebrated event among Indians and Hindus around the world.
The program includes a cultural show extravaganza, arts and crafts for children and adults, an open dance floor with popular Bollywood music and of course Indian food from two popular local restaurants. The Y is also offering special Zumba trial lessons and other activities.
Advance tickets: $6pp; $10/person on day of the event.
Diwali, also known as “the Festival of Lights,” commemorates the conquest of good over evil while reaffirming friendship and good will. It is marked by exchanges of gifts, music, dance performances and feasting. This special time of year is an official holiday in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Mauritius, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, Malaysia, Singapore and Fiji.
The celebration at the Y provides a unique opportunity to experience the rich heritage of the Indian culture through a full complement of food, dance, crafts and live performances.
